Hospital launches 2011 annual appeal

"LIGHTS, SCALPEL, ACTION!"

This year the Mansfield District Hospital Annual Appeal, Lights, Scalpel, Action!!, is focused on raising funds to replace an ageing procedure table and operating lights for the Operating Theatre.

Surgery requires excellent lighting and the ability to re-position patients safely, quickly and easily during procedures so it is essential that the hospital has the most up-to-date equipment to ensure patient safety at all times.

In 2010-2011, the Mansfield District Hospital undertook 465 surgical procedures, including elective and emergency caesarean sections. Not only will the proposed equipment assist with the provision of high quality care in the Operating Theatre, it will also indirectly support our surgical obstetric service.

We are relying on the Mansfield and District Community to assist in raising $75,000 to enable us to purchase new operating theatre lights and a state-of-the-art operating table for our major theatre.

The generosity of the local community to our annual appeals in the past has enabled us to maintain and provide a high level of care and service across various departments at the Hospital with the provision of equipment and building upgrades.
